Work from Home Scam
The calls are generated by automatic dialer which calls a set of numbers to locate live active users. If you pick up, you might hear a recorded message declaring you have won a cruise for 2 to the Caribbean and try to scam you. Instead, leave the phone alone. The autodialer will stop calling once it realizes you are not responsive and will move on to the next set of numbers, to run the scam.
The 'you have won' routine is just an attention grabber which would help the scammer to eventually knock off cash. Some of these could be time-share marketers who would offer 'free' tickets provided you attend their high decibel sales pitch.
The offer is conditional! Only couples are allowed and should have "major" credit cards. The reason is to play one against the other during the sales pitch. Make it sufficiently embarrassing for people who do not sign up!
At the presentation, which would run for hours, many people who really wish to run away, end up being too embarrassed, not to sign up! And those who decide to go on so the called 'Free Cruise' would find it too restrictive would end up upgrading, paying through their nose.
