Fake Investment
The check would off course be counterfeit and would bounce, a few days after cashing.
Though the bank cashed the check when you presented it, the Federal Reserve Check Clearing House would detect that the check was fake, after few days. By that time the scammer would have received the “excess money” and also the item, shipped by the victim.
The bank will come all guns blazing, for having deposited a bogus check and would want the victim to put money back, into the account.
