Scam Phone Number 8888681593, Collecting on a phantom loan. Totally bogus! SCAM attempt to collect.
Robocall message stating I owe money on a loan and advises to press #1 to speak with an advisor ... or they will proceed with paper work for legal recovery. I know I don't have any loan or a bill in collection... my recent credit report hasn't flagged any... total scam
Aisha H Reported: Bogus online payday loans scam. Caller stated I had a pay loan in 2010 from one of numerous companies. I told her that no payday loan showed on my credit report, she said i wouldnt see it cause they were giving me time (a whole 6 years, yeah right) to pay it off. She had the last 4 digits of my SS #, and when I asked her to send me the info in the mail she declined. Going on and on about taking it to the federal and state government. I told her I had never heard of them and that she had the wrong person. Then I told her not to call me any more and hung up.
HL Reported: called and said I owed money from payday loans on 4 different loans. they had last 4 of social and old address. When I asked for proof of what I owed they said they couldn't send me anything until I did payment arrangement with them. I don't owe this and I believe it is a big scam.

When someone demands payment of old debt (may be real or unreal) you should check your credit report to see whether it's actually on it, or not.
If the credit report does not state the debt at all, there is no need for you to pay even if you are convinced the debt is real, unless you are in a mood to pay it off!
There are thousands of illegal payday loan lenders who are not licensed to lend. Since they are not licensed they can't register themselves with credit rating agencies and hence can not report loan defaults.
They may try to recover the debt illegally. They may threaten to sue, but they cannot and will not, since they are illegal in the first place and hence can not approach courts!
If you want to know whether a lender is licensed to do business in your state, verify the information with your state banking regulator ( www. consumerfinance.gov/askcfpb/1637/how-do-i-find-my-states-bank-regulator.html ) or attorney general ( www . naag.org/current-attorneys-general.php )
