The scammer would have made similar calls to hundreds of people at random. He wouldn’t know who has a Sprint payment default and who hasn’t. But he will tell everyone, the same story.
The idea is to create doubt and uncertainty and once the scammer finds a pliable person, will pile on pressure to extract money.
The best way to stop these calls is to be aggressive and tell the caller you are aware of the scam and the call has already been reported to the police and all his calls are being taped. Be strong, raise your voice and that should do the trick!
Cuss them off hard! Feel free to use the choices expletives!
These crooks need people who get easily scared so that they can be forced to pay. They will not pursue and waste time with people who are smart.
