Threatening Call or Mail
You have been unfortunately baited & duped & ditched by scammers. Did you ever verify whether the callers were from Scotia Loans? If YES, does such a company exist at all and whether it has license to operate?
It’s not wise to agree to sign up for a Loan on phone when the regulations make it mandatory for the lender to be registered, licensed entity and the customer is expected to verify whether the lender is legit and has a permanent address.
For the benefit of all users: A legitimate company will accept payment in its own bank account by check, credit card or by an online bank transfer and hence absolutely clean record of payment flow from customer to company is maintained. It will never ask to pay money by pre paid cash card, Western Union or Moneygram to a third party. If someone asks to pay money by these means for a business or an official transaction, you can take it as FRAUD.
How could any lender be satisfied that the loan will be serviced, by just getting Advance Fee?! No one will give unsecured loan, unless they are absolutely certain that they would be able to recover the entire principle and interest. They will also obtain customer's concurrence to set up automatic monthly charge on the debtors bank account apart from other protections like agreement for wage garnishment. They will also be a registered company so that they can proceed legally, if a customer defaults.
It's foolish to trust a stranger (probably having a bogus website), who offers loan on the phone with no registration & no license to operate the business, in your state.
