Scam Phone Number 5612573234, An Indian sounding man want to know about recent surgeries I had!.
This caller made me wild! He was obviously a foreigner (most certainly from India, by the accent). Told me he is with the Federal Health department (a lie!) and that the Govt. is compensating women who had undergone surgeries!!
Does that make any sense? Went on to ask about the recent surgeries I had! I denied having any surgeries. He said records show I had a bladder sling surgery.
Well, who decides I had surgery or not! When challenged he mumbled names of few hospitals…
Told him it’s illegal for him to possess medical history of US citizens. He says they work for hospitals and hence it’s legal
These are crooks who steal hospital records by breaking in to their servers.
I had to raise my voice to shake him off!

Service Providers Scam
It’s good that you ticked off the fellow without entertaining him. Unfortunately, Americans are too accommodative when it comes to engaging with unknown callers.
Why should anyone, specially a foreigner, be allowed to talk about a personal matter like a medical condition or an injury? If we need advice, we would have initiated a call, ourselves!
Foreign rogues talk people into signing up for bogus insurance or fake compensation schemes with sole intention of stealing money. Often, the crime originates in the US itself with phony companies outsourcing illegal calls to call centers in India and other countries.
Never part with any personal info when unknown people call. Scammers collect bits and pieces of info and would later call back, to carry out confidence tricks.
For example, if you have revealed that you had (for example) a bladder surgery, another scammer will call you after few weeks informing that there is a medical compensation of $2500 waiting to be claimed on account of the bladder surgery you had undergone. You wouldn't connect this call to the previous one, since the caller could claim to be from the "Federal Medical Compensation Department" or something similar!
Victims would end up sending money to the scammer (Advance Fees) not the other way round!
There are call centers which connect women who have had health problems caused after transvaginal mesh and bladder sling surgery, to lawyers. However those making cold calls and being evasive about their company and it’s location, shall be taken as scammers.
