The recording I answered live repeated itself. Then my answering machine also had a recording also. Same one. "

Ken Reported : Steve Modern - IRS - 2157340226 - "Received threatening phone call that I am not to call anyone, I must pay $11,000, police have been notified to arrest me for tax fraud. They even somehow called me with the call ID stating it was my local law enforcement agency. The man had a middle eastern voice and passed me around to 2 other individuals Robert and ? they too had middle eastern voices. They told me to shut up and listen to them and I must wire transfer the money immediately and they might be able to prevent me from serving jail time. Thye even knew I had a clean record. Needless to say, this has been reported to my local police department, IRS, and Federal Trade Commission."
Tom Reported: "Called and left message I had a pending IRS action and that a warrant had been issued. Called them back and the details were much the same as others have reported. They hung up on me when I kept dragging out the conversation. I continued to call them back and spoke to about 6-7 other "agents". Finally, they blocked my phone so I could not call them. I switched to my cell phone with the same results. Great fun!!!"
RWebster Reported: Steve Martin; No company given - "I was told that "It was my second notice. If I ignored it again, I would face Federal Magistrate charges from the US treasury, and a Federal Grand Jury." I was then warned again not to ignore the call. I tried to return the call, but could not get through."

Government Grant Scam
The voicemail is handiwork of scammers from Asia. The awful grammar gives it away. The scammers fraudulently use names of well known legal firms and throw around names of payday loan companies. Out of thousands of calls made at the same time, the scammers expect a few people to be alarmed enough, to respond. The victims are then terrorized into paying money, by threatening arrest, jail term, wage garnishment and in the case of immigrants, deportation.
We should publish details of such voicemail threats, to help spread information about the scam and save others from being victimized.
