Scam Phone Number 2154694908, Michael Black with Bureau of Crime Investigations 215-469-4908.
I just received a phone call from a manager at my work that said I needed to contact Officer Michael Black with the Bureau of Crime Investigations at phone number 215-469-4908. I called him back and he spoke with an accent and either his phone was not turned up or he just spoke softly because I could barely hear him.
He said that my social was used to have an American Cash Advance loan done. He said that my IP address was linked to this loan to have money deposited into a bank account. He said that he did not contact my work, that it was the local sheriff's office contacting my work. I told him no that my manager said I needed to contact him. I've heard of American Cash Advance because there are a couple of them here in my city.
They are a payday loan company. I have never used that payday loan place. I told him that i never signed up nor received anything from them. I also told him to send me documents to look over. He told me an address, what email was used, a social, and what bank it went to. I told him that I did not live at that address, nor have that account. He would not tell me when this loan was opened or even the amount.
When I asked for that he got hostile with me. He said that the US government will put a stop or hold on my Social and I'll be prosecuted and possibly thrown in jail. I asked him what did he mean that my social will have hold on it. He said that I wouldn't be able to file taxes, get a home, car, or even my social security benefits when I come of age for that. I said how can that happen when I still have at least 30 years before I can get Social Security.
He said he could do anything he wanted. Then he hung up on me. I then got online and searched the number. It's from Philadelphia. I have also read some of the comments hear and noticed people saying the same thing with the same company.
I think it is wrong to be harassed this way and even through my work. Now I have to tell my managers about this so they won't fire me over this.

Evil criminals like these trawl the net for personal info and use the same precisely for such scams. Your name and work number is all that is needed to create terror! There are many people who give-in after being called multiple times at work. They are certain that they don't owe money to the caller but fear about the impact of calls on their job! And this is exactly what the scammer is looking for.
Nice to know that you were able to spot the scam and remain safe.
The best way to stop these calls, is to be aggressive and tell the caller you are aware of the scam and the call has already been reported to the police and all his calls are being taped. Be strong, raise your voice and that should do the trick!
These crooks need people who get easily scared so that they can be forced to pay. They will not pursue and waste time with people who are smart.
