Harassing Calls
Hi Kimberly, the call is a scam. Extortionists trying to intimidate and humiliate potential victims to coerce cash out of them.
Report the call to the FTC. These calls are arriving from illegal call centers in foreign countries and have nothing to do with you, specifically. They repeat the same story to everyone that they call, posing as attorneys or debt collectors. The call appears to be local since the crooks manage to spoof the phone number displayed.
The best way to stop these calls is to be aggressive and tell the caller you are aware of the scam and the call has already been reported to the police and all his calls are being taped. Be strong and talk to them with authority and force.
These crooks need people who get easily scared so that they can be forced to pay. They will not pursue and waste time with people who are smart.
