Tech Support Scam
The calls about release of Govt. Grants are 100% fraud. The departments of the Government do not make phone calls citizens to intimate them about benefits. The scam is usually operated from abroad with VOIP calls spoofing local numbers.
And callers generally would have a foreign accent. The scammers would offer to credit the Grant to your account, Provided certain ‘Fee’ is paid immediately (By credit Card or with pre loaded cash cards such as Green Dot Moneypak). The scammer may also steal personal and financial info asking to verify name, address, checking account number, SSN etc.
