Scam Phone Number 2022419503, Bogus US Treasurey Dept reg errors in 2012 and 2013 taxes.
received a call from 202-241-8503-said was the Treasury Dept-- telling me that I had made so many errors on my 2012 and 2013 taxes, etc., and not taken action on them that they thought I was a flight risk and in 1/2 I was going to be arrested.
When I said I never had received any notification and asked to send me something, the gentlemen--who, incidentally had a heavy India accent, told me that his job was done and the police would be coming to arrest me in 1/2 hour.
Figured it was a scam but he didn't ask for any information so I must have scared him off. Checked with my attorney to see if there was such a scam and he said he had another client that had a similar situation.
I then check to see what the number was on my caller ID and found this number. I called, and it was answered by a machine indicating that it was IRS discrepancy line and to leave a message. I had called on my track phone so there would be no record of who I was. I hung up and in seconds, the phone rang and it was a return call. I hung up on them. Just thought you should be aware of this.

Thanks Anna Mar for posting the story! That should help other users realize that the call threatening action by the US treasury is a scam. It thrives on the fact that a large part of the American population is unaware, of how the legal process relating to inaccurate tax filings, work.
The US Treasury or the IRS will never make, “out of the blue” calls, demanding payment. Payments will never be accepted by cash cards like Greendot Moneypak.
