Tech Support Scam
Usually, people who call without giving you valid paperwork are scammers and paying them will not make the debt to go away.
They attempt to scare people into paying money. If the lender has indeed filed a case you would have received notices.
Ask them to send Debt Validation Notice if they call again and also inform them that the calls have been reported to the police department since you suspect scam and the calls are being taped, as advised by the Police!
That should put an end to this menace!
