Scam Phone Number 18442797431, Claimed "twin loss financial" deposited money into my account in 2011.
Received a call both on my cell and at work stating there was a claim being handled and I was given the claim number and a number to call. I returned the call to a call center under the 18442797431 number. A man with a foreign voice picked up the call and I asked who I was speaking to and what this was in regards to. He stated he needed to verify the last four of my social before he could proceed any further. I verified that he had my last four correct and he then stated "Twin Loss Financial" had made a deposit into my account in the amount of $400 back on 10/20/2011. When I questioned him about the account number it was supposedly deposited to he could only give me the last four of an account number I had closed years ago. He also stated the account was with USAA, which it was not. He said I could either pay $598 to make the debt go away or he could send me paperwork proving this deposit but that once he did that he could not stop the collection process. I told him to hold on for me and I opened my account as I was talking to him on the phone. I told him there was no such deposit into my accounts and I needed his name and the name of the company that was calling me. He told me his name was Kevin and that he was calling from "MCO". When I told him I had no such account and that I needed to know what "MCO" stood for and if they were a collection company or what they were he proceeded to tell me that he would just send the paperwork to my email address and that "they" would be in contact with me. At this point he seemed to want to get off the phone and I proceeded to tell him I needed that paperwork sent to me now before I could go any further. He quickly said he would go ahead and let the company know to "stop the process" and got off the phone quickly and I have a feeling I will not be getting any paperwork sent to me via email.

When someone demands payment of old debt (may be real or unreal) you should check your credit report to see whether it's actually on it, or not.
If the credit report does not state the debt at all, there is no need for you to pay even if you are convinced the debt is real, unless you are in a mood to pay it off!
There are thousands of illegal payday loan lenders who are not licensed to lend. Since they are not licensed they can't register themselves with credit rating agencies and hence can not report loan defaults.
They may try to recover the debt illegally. They may threaten to sue, but they cannot and will not, since they are illegal in the first place and hence can not approach courts!
If you want to know whether a lender is licensed to do business in your state, verify the information with your state banking regulator (www.consumerfinance.gov/askcfpb/1637/how-do-i-find-my-states-bank-regulator.html ) or attorney general (www.naag.org/current-attorneys-general.php )
