Scam Phone Number 17866810829, CRS services - Unfortunately I was so freaked I paid them.
Called stating that if I did not pay off this online payday loan taken out in 08/2010 that they would be forced to litigate and it would become part of my husbands public record. They had correct snippets of my husbands info but all from various times in his past. Unfortunately I was so freaked I paid them (ugh)
Is there any way to get that money back or is it gonzo?

Missed Call Fraud
Hi Breton, once money is paid to scammers it's impossible to retrieve it. You would have paid using a cash card which makes it impossible to trace the person who cashed it. And this is precisely the reason for scammers insisting that victim load a prepaid cash card and give them the PIN.
You should file a formal complaint with the local police department. This should help the law enforcement to keep a tab on this group of extortionists.
Scammers collect personal data to carry out fraud like this. Once someone pays, scammers would get back again with a new story. So be alert. It's best to hang up on unexpected calls from strangers.
