Scam Phone Number 17069481084, Retrieval Mediation Services - They stole money claiming I owed a loan.
This company called my daughter in college harassed her saying I had all these allegations towards me pressured her into giving my #. Said I owe a online payday loan service that went out of business. I paid two payments and skipped out they had my work info my social security # and threatened to take me to court for garnishes. I asked for proof and told them I had not taken a loan maybe someone stole my info when I went through my divorce.
They yelled and said they gave me all the proof and I hadn't paid. I could settle for $500 on a 2400 dollar loan to keep from garnish from this point forward until I could investigate. Once I do I would contact them later to get my money they agreed. I gave my credit card info they withdrew. Told me I would receive an email.to support this payment to help me fins who stole my info and opened this online debt.
I received an email asking me not to take them to court for $ 500. I paid so I called back the next day (they were closed at the time of email)i asked for the manager to complain and the lady yelled @ me saying I paid this matter is closed . I did not need the manager I then ask for a business operating ID # she hung up in my fave when I called back the # is disconnected.
I have my bank fraud dept trying to retrieve the $500 I paid them! I am upset they got me for the money but again was pressured cause they have my social and now I have to purchase lifelock to protect my life.

Your story should be an eye opener to people who do not believe anyone can be conned by such random extortion calls. It's extremely sad you fell for empty telephonic threats. If you had threatened to call the police, they would have vanished!
And even though you hadn't received any proof of the debt, you paid them! That was incredibly wrong!
If you are back on any payment, contact the original lender and deal directly. The caller may not even be aware about your loan. These crooks fly trial balloons, to hook people who might be delinquent and hence are likely to fall for the scam.
Don’t give your address. Instead ask them to repeat the address. To such scam callers never admit any payment default.
You cannot be arrested for defaulting on a payday loan. You should report the lender’s threat to your state attorney general. You can also submit a complaint with the CFPB at ( www. consumerfinance.gov/complaint/) or by calling 1-855-411-CFPB (2372).
If a lender has OBTAINED A JUDGEMENT against you and you ignore an order to appear in court, a judge may issue a warrant for your arrest. In this case the warrant is issued not because you defaulted on payday loan but because you refused to appear in court.
To obtain a judgment, the lender has to commence civil court proceedings (not criminal) and you will be very much aware because you will receive formal court notices in mail. A judgment will not happen out of the blue.
If someone is calling and threatening to have you arrested or wage garnished because you had a delinquent loan, it’s nothing but an attempt to extort money. You should strongly refute and inform the caller that you are aware of extortion scams and the call is being taped and will be reported to the Police and not to call you in future.
